WINTER!
WINTER...some peoples favorite season and some peoples worst nightmare..I am one of those people. Winter is just an excuse to take cute winter picture with your friends and for dudes to snowmobile or snowboard. I like to spend my winter indoors cuddle up in a blanket next to a warm fire. I am not someone who enjoys being cold. So having to walk to class in the winter is defiantly a struggle I will have. As well as trying my best to not slip as I'm walking up the many hills on westerns campus. I have managed to fall only twice so far and lose my car once, so you could say the start to my winter is pretty dang good.

Cramming for Finals
FINALS......The big scary word that every college student dreads. The week of testing and stress where everyone is scattered around trying to cram for these tests. All you see is students piled up in the library with their head in their book and their laptops. The nice thing with my finals is I technically only have 2 legit finals. One in biology which I get to retake for half the points back as well as one in holistic health which will be quite a struggle. I have stayed in my dorm room for days straight and it is still a week before finals and I have never been so stressed and overwhelmed in my whole life. As I am getting through this week and finally processing how much harder college is than high school I pray to God that I do amazing on my finals.

Thanskgiving Break..
Thanksgiving break was nothing short of boring, I decided to take my break to enjoy spending time with my family instead of what most people do, visit with friends and catch up because we haven't seen each other in months. I went home on a Monday so my break was fairly long, I decided to kinda just hangout and do homework and focus on the next 3 weeks ahead. It was very nice being able to catch up with my siblings who I haven't seen in forever as well as see my grandparents before they went off to Florida. My break was typically boring but very nice to just hangout with my family.
College Game Day..
College game day was probably one of the biggest and coldest game of the year. Students out in the freezing tundra at 3:30 in the morning just to get a spot in the circle as ESPN broadcast our game on television. I on the other hand was not as excited as many of the other broncos were, I decided to wake up around 9:30 and sat around till about 11 then I decided to start my day. It was cold so I wore 3 layers of clothing thinking I would be set. As I was walking to the tailgate I realized it was a mistake so I turned right back around and took a nap. College game day was not as eventful as it is supposed to be for fellow broncos, but on the bright side we won!

My Decison To Transfer..
I thought long and hard about what I want to do for the next few years of my college experience, and I realized that I do not want to spend it here. Don't get me wrong Western is a great school, but have you ever felt like you just don't fit in and you would fit in somewhere else? That is for sure how I am feeling. I personally believe that if I transfer I will enjoy my time at college a lot more as I have more friends there. If I get in I will be attending CMU which is kinda ironic because that is our rivals but I believe its a better school for me and I will be truly happy. It was a tough decision but I think it is the best choice for me.
My Trip To Sindecuse..
I went home last weekend finally feeling healthy for the first time since I have gotten to Western and I was thanking the Lord, there was no more sniffling, coughs, and sore throats. My boyfriend decided to come home that weekend too and of course he was sick, I tried avoiding it so much but I was bound to get sick. I happened to get very ill where I couldn't move because my body ached and my throat hurt like no other. I came back to school and decided to get into sindecuse so I could find out what was wrong with me. I was there for two hours getting my blood drawn and throat swabbed, as they checked for mono and strep. Thankfully I left with just a little virus and a bruised arm so thank you nurse for jabbing me with a needle.

Halloween Weekend..
I decided to write this post after that weekend of "Halloween weekend" the weekend girls struggle to find 4 completely different and original costumes for the 4 nights of Halloween. I went to Central Michigan and Michigan State this weekend and Ill tell you what it was pretty crazy. On Saturday that was when Michigan played State at State, biggest rivalry in football. All you hear is state and Michigan fans arguing and chanting which schools better. I really don't have a preference when it comes to these teams so I was just listening and laughing at how ignorant people can be. That night I saw tons of people just roaming the street of East Lansing. People were riding down shopping carts, running into cars and some even went as far as to throw glass bottles at the cops for shutting down a party. As I was heading to my friends house to the stay the night we scrambled to find a spot to sleep as 20 people spent the night at the house and 9 were upstairs on the floor with me. All in all it was one sleepless weekend

Midterms
The word mid-term sends chills down my spine when I hear it. The most stressful time of the year when you have to take an exam half way through the semester and try to remember everything you learned. Cramming hours and hours worth of studying into one night so you can wake up early so you can just study some more before class starts. I took my first mid term and it was probably the worst experience of my life. This was already a class I barely knew anything about so receiving the mid term and seeing it was all blank I knew it was not going to be a good day to be a Bronco.

Visiting Home For the First Time..
Visiting home for the first time since I have been at school was such a weird feeling. Going into my home town, seeing familiar faces that I haven't seen in a month. I expected things to change which obviously it hasn't much, its only been a month. Walking into my house smelling the scent I missed so much was so nice, being greeted with warm hugs and kisses was so warming I loved it. The smell of my moms home cooked meals was truly amazing. You never realize how much you miss home until you come home for the first time.

CMU VS. Western Game
The Central vs Western game is every game college kids around the state of Michigan love going to. One of the biggest rivals behind Michigan and State, being at Western I obviously was ligated to go. I mean I did have to go see Western kick some Chippewas butt anyways. Broncos and Chips tailgated together and all you heard was Row the boat or Fire up chips from all the excited fans. You can understand the excitement when you'd see a crowd of fellow rowers. Going into the game we already had a mind set of winning. I cheered my school on as I sat in the Central student section because all my friends were there. But anyways Western ended up killing Central 49-10 so pretty much it was a land slide win and a quite enjoyable game.

My First Frat Party....
Frats.....the dream place for all college girls, they are looking forward to dressing cute and getting let in to these houses. The frats are looked at as the "athletes" of you were still in high school. I never thought very highly of frat guys or frat parties, they never seemed appealing to me. So my roommate dragged me to one on a Wednesday night...when I really did not want to go especially with having class the next day. We got there and it was a bunch of dudes and 4 girls which were the girls we brought, we all sat around listening to music and getting to know eachother. I lost my roommate again and had no idea where she went to I went home. I came to conclusion that I will never go to a frat party again and especially not on a Wednesday. :)

What it's like doing long distance...
The day I chose to not go to college where my boyfriend went was the day I knew things would get difficult. We are both from the same hometown, living 5 minutes down the road from each other. We did the long distance thing for a couple months while he was finishing his first year of college as I was quickly finishing up my Senior year. It was easy because I was in high school and he could come home and visit me while visiting his family, so coming home on the weekends weren't a problem. Now that we are both at separate colleges 2 and a half hours away from each other its pretty difficult visiting each other when we are both trying to enjoy our college lives. So this means many facetime dates and 2 hour drives for us. Some may say long distance is "stupid" or not worth their time. But making it work through college for the one you love is 100% worth it and it is going more smoothly than I thought.

My First Ever Tailgate as a Freshman
My first ever tailgate was honestly one of the craziest and eventful days of my life. I left my dorm so excited to attend my first tailgate ever, and to be able to meet so many people that I could hangout with in the years to come. I arrived and the over flow of intoxicated people was over whelming. All you could hear is people yelling "Row the Boat!". As my friends and I went around meeting crowds of people it was time to go into the game. I then realized I lost my student ID and my debit card, the two most important things I would need as I attend college. I was mid tears as I was trying to figure out how to get into the game. My friend slid me her ID as she walked in so I could sneak into the game. I get into the stand full of anxiety wondering where all my stuff is. I needed to go home and look, I arrived at the Valleys and my roommate realized they were in her bra the whole time. I missed my first game because my roommate couldn't tell my stuff was in her bra. So you could say it was for sure a good day to be a BRONCO!

Move in Day
Hello,
My name is Kaelyn and this is my first year at college and I know I am in for many adventures. Move in day was so bittersweet, I had many thoughts going on in my mind between what the hell am I supposed to do now that I am on my own and how will I survive relying on myself? I was so excited and so scared being at the bottom of the chain again, being lost and confused. Going from a small high school knowing everyone and where to go to not knowing a single person or my way around campus. I can only hope as the weeks goes by that college will get a little easier.
